6 Ways to Strengthen Your Natural Immunity

6 Ways to Strengthen Your Natural Immunity

Cold & flu season is right around the corner, and you might be wondering how to support your immune system. Are there immune boosting vitamins or foods? How do you support your natural immunity?

Ever started feeling under the weather just as autumn rolls in? That’s because with the change in season comes changes in temperature and other things that can irritate your airways. Colder, drier weather can irritate nasal passages and cause a sore throat, while fall allergies from pollen and mold can trigger hay fever.

Also, we spend more time indoors, which makes it easier to spread undesired viruses to others around us. Luckily, there are ways you can naturally support your immune system to, hopefully, keep those nasty colds at bay.

Use a Humidifier

Increasing your air’s humidity levels can make it more difficult for viruses to spread. It also helps keep your nasal passages hydrated from the drier weather.

Get Some Zzz’s

Sleep is such an important part of our health. A good night’s sleep can support healthy brain function, mood, and immune health. Cytokines, a type of protein, are released in your body during sleep and help regulate your body’s immune response.

Feed Your Gut Well

Your gut needs good, healthy foods in order to supplement a healthy immune system. Make sure to feed your belly probiotics, which are known as the “good” bacteria.

Clean Your Space

Any surfaces that are used daily will become hot spots for germs and bacteria. This includes kitchen countertops, desks, and phones. Clean areas and items often to avoid lingering germs and bacteria.

Air Out Your Home

The air in your home can get stagnant and stuffy. It can also be a magnet for polluted air from things like bacteria, pet dander, cleaning chemicals, and gas stoves. Open your windows to help the air circulate and adopt houseplants that help clean the air, like spider plants and aloe vera.

Zinc Up

Another way to help support your natural immune system is to ensure you’re getting enough vitamins and supplements. During the cold weather months, make sure you get plenty of nutrients that help support a healthy immune system. Vitamins C, D, and Zinc are great at supporting natural immunity, so make sure to eat foods rich in these or supplement if you need extra support.*

Supporting Your Immune System

As the weather turns cold, make sure you’re doing everything you can to stay healthy. The more supported your immune system, the better it will be at tackling any undesired germs and bacteria. Follow us on social media for more tips on staying healthy, enjoying family time, and future giveaways!
